ars electronica

The Ars Electronica Festival premiered in 1979 and is today the most important new media festival worldwide with approximately 75.000 annual visitors. The festival is designed to take the Digital Revolution’s emergence as an occasion to face important questions about the future and to focus these inquiries on the nexus of art, technology and society.

The Ars Electronica Futurelab sketches out possible future scenarios in art-based, experimental forms. Having Artists and Researchers from all over the globe collaborating with – and taking residencies at – the Ars Electronica Futurelab, is fundamental to the lab’s trans-disciplinary approach. Its range of services concentrates on expertise developed throughout the years in fields such as media art, architecture, design, interactive exhibitions, virtual reality and real-time graphics.
