Understanding Media Studies: ‘Urban Screens as Community Platforms

The School of Media Studies presents a discussion with Susa Pop, Director, Public Art Lab, Berlin at the New School in New York City.

The New School was founded in New York City nearly a century ago as an institution dedicated to intellectual and artistic freedom. Today it is a leading urban university offering some of the nation’s most well respected degree, certificate, and continuing education programs in art and design, social sciences, liberal arts, management and public policy, and performing arts. The tradition of active learning begun in 1919 by John Dewey and other founders of The New School is reflected in programs that promote academic excellence, technical mastery, innovation, and engaged world citizenship.

The School of Media Studies at The New School provides a rich and dynamic environment for developing new ideas and launching new careers. A faculty of internationally recognized media makers and cutting-edge scholars engages students in a curriculum that combines media history, theory, and research, media business and management, and the production of film, video, audio, digital, and multimedia projects.

In this framework Susa Pop – as urban media curator and producer and initiator of Connecting Cities – will give a lecture on ‘Urban Screens as Community Platforms‘.

Monday, October 13, 2014 at 6:00 pm to 7:50 pm
