The City Culture Science Lab is a two-days international meeting and interdisciplinary workshop in the frame of the Connecting Cities Network. Organised by Public Art Lab and co-funded by the Goethe Institute Hongkong and the European Union, the City Culture Science Lab will create an intercultural exchange and knowledge transfer between two centers of optical technologies: the city of Jena / Germany and the city of Guanghzou / China.
Artists, designers, curators, entrepreneurs and decision-makers from China and Germany will reflect about light, art and technology and their impact on city making and city branding. The workshop will initiate exchange, establish contacts and create ideas for the future of light festivals as platforms for intercultural exchange.
The program on June 25 and 26 combines lectures, presentations, discussions, workshops and company visits. The application for participation is open for all artists, designers, engineers and students that are interested in the topic of media art.
The City Culture Science Lab takes place at Yi-Gather, a new coworking-space, creative community and social hub in Guangzhou.
Guangzhou (also known as Canton) is the capital of Guangdong province, Chinas economic powerhouse and neighbouring Hongkong.
