Experimental education between art, design and technology: combining the autonomous aesthetic practices of art and design with research in information technologies, xm:lab is an integral element of Media Art & Design, Media Informatics (in cooperation with Saarland University), and Product Design.
The institute at the Academy of Fine Arts Saar develops and coordinates a wide spectrum of projects at the intersections of art, design and technology, with a particular focus on digital fabrication and rapid prototyping, senses of light (including interactive visualizations), technologies of play, and media theory/netculture.
