susa pop @ sp _urban digital festival

Susa Pop was invited to curate the facade of the SP_URBAN DIGITAL FESTIVAL in Sao Paulo and hold a lecture on Wednesday, the 4th December 2012 about urban media facades, its risks and potentials for cultural use. Thereby pointing out main challenges: the technical part of how to connect facades from city to city but also how to integrate suitable, site-specific and interactive cultural content from a curatorial point of view. The lecture shows best cases and innovative methods for developing digital facades projects all over the world.

Antoine Schmitt with an adaption of “City Sleeps Lights” and Mar Canet / Varvara Guljajeva with a new piece “O ritmo de Sao Paulo” were chosen by the curator Susa Pop and are shown within the Festival during the 3rd until the 31st December 2012 (see programm).

SP _URBAN DIGITAL FESTIVAL is an initiative of SESI-SP, a cultural service since 1979. The pyramid-like building of FIEST offers a huge façade. Within the SP_URBAN DIGITAL FESTIVAL the facades will be transformed into the first digital gallery of Latin America during the festival. The event is a pioneer project for integrating culture in the public space.
