Connecting Cinemas is initiated by Public Art Lab and Neue Kammerspiele (Kleinmachnow, Brandenburg) as pilot project funded by the Europe MEDIA programme of the European Commission
to bring the idea of European cinemas a step further by connecting the audiences and cinemas in rural regions Europewide and establishing an networked infrastructure to share live events, programmes and knowledge.

With the curatorial strands of CONNECT | ENGAGE | ENTERTAIN, Public Art Lab and Neue Kammerspiele want to to build a strong sustainable partnership network for a neighbourhood engaged cinema together with 3 European cinemas: Fortress Sibenik in Croatia, Amza Pellea Cinema in Rasnov, Rumania and Cinema Star in Veria, Greece.

Public Art Lab will share its experience about networked urban media art and digital placmaking from the CONNECTING CITIES NETWORK together with the research and innovative hub partners University of Applied Science / Play & Media Civic Amsterdam, M2C Institut für angewandte Medienforschung, Bremen, and KEA European Affairs, Brussels.
