urban media art academy @ launched in bangkok 2017

The Urban Media Art Academy is a networked global educational initiative focused on urban media art. It investigates and intermediates urban media art as an interdisciplinary domain of practice, theory and knowledge sharing. It facilitates knowledge production and sharing about urban media art as an aesthetic interference in current and future urban environments. The Academy is realised through a worldwide partner network of distinguished artists, art curators, universities, NGO’s, cultural centres and other institutions, and creative thinkers.

The Urban Media Art Academy is founded by Susa Pop and Tanya Ravn Ag on the basis of the book What Urban Media Art Can Do: Why When Where & How (Av Edition, 2016).

Launch
In April 2017 the Academy launched its first program in Bangkok as a four day lecture-, workshop and public program with presentations and seminars with 11 faculty members.

The program included 60 participants (mainly from Bangkok and neighbouring Asian countries). Over 120 people applied for participation.  Within 48 hours of the open call for participation, distributed via local partners, the participation list was full.
