16. Bauhausfest 2013: “Bunt gewürfelt” partly curated by Public Art Lab

After two years where “light” has been the main theme for The Bauhaus Festival, the theme “Color Mix” will bring the festival back to celebrating a certain color. The idea for this years theme derive from the saying by the Bauhaus founder Gropius: A mix of color, is my favorite color!”. The theme “Bunt gewürfelt” (directly translated to colourful dice meaning a colourful mix), sees the dice as both synonymous with abstract and representational form, and is also a connection to the cubist idiom of Bauhaus building manufacture.

In addition to numerous student work that was created in cooperation with the Giebichenstein, the Art College Weissensee, the Anhalt University and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, a highlight of Connecting Cities Network (Public Art Lab Berlin) was shown. This network connects major cities in Europe and North America with each other in the public sphere. Bauhaus Dessau and its visitors were connected in a series of interactive art projects with other art events such as Ars Electronica in Linz and the AND Festival in Liverpool.

The extensive music program also guaranteed experiments, artistic diversity and playfulness.
